Here in Alaska, our family doesn't do fireworks for Independence day because there are just too many hours of daylight. So, we wouldn't be able to see them. What do you do to celebrate this day?
We went to the park today, the farmers market and the stores. We sampled some homemade bread at the farmer's market. There was an herb sourdough one that was delicious. We will probably get some when we go back in a few weeks. I really need to try my hand at making bread again. I think our family would really appreciate it. We all love bread. Homemade bread is so good especially with homemade butter.Mmm..I can just taste it now!Do any of you have a favorite easy yeast bread recipe that you could share with me? We ended up purchasing some humongous radishes and green onions and a cucumber.
We saw many friends from church at the places we went to today. I spoke with one friend today and it seems that we have a common interest. We would both love to live in a self-sufficient Christian community. My dh and I were just talking about this the other day so I was quite surprised . She said she would like goats and horses and I said I would like sheep, chickens and a garden. This would be so awesome to bring something together like this...a real old fashioned Christian community with neighbors helping neighbors. Do any of you live in a community like this? I would love to hear the details.
At the store, I was looking for some white canvas shoes(similar to Keds) but cannot find them anywhere. So, I am very disappointed. Do any of you wear these? Where do you purchase them? Online?
For supper tonight, we will beef having beef fajitas and homemade ice cream. We haven't made ice cream in a year so we are looking forward to it.
Have a blessed and safe 4th of July! Enjoy the fireworks for us....
